“We must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is
always ripe to do right.”
MVMS students, have you heard of the Community First program? Doing service for others feels good
and is meaningful. Our activities range from feeding the homeless, beautifying
the environment, helping younger students, and volunteering at organizations
that assist the elderly and special needs. Check out the Community First
page under Student Activities on the MVMS website for ideas. You can do good,
make a difference and get credit for it!
Speaking of community service, we are holding our first event of
the year! On Wednesday, October 24th at lunchtime in the conference
room, come help make hygiene kits made up of toiletries and other supplies
during our HELP THE HOMELESS event!
You and your parents can donate if you haven’t already… there is a Signup
Genius in the Panther Press.
Have
you noticed the long green banner of icons hanging on the wall above the
central hallway of the school? Take a
closer look. They are images of changes
we need to make and actions we need to take now to combat climate change. The images were all drawn by 6th
grade students after visiting a Climate Change Exhibit in San Francisco last
month. Ask a 6th grader what
you can do to fight climate change, and thank Ms. Tran and art students for
hanging the work in the school.
All Students please
power down your cell phones or other personal electronics NOW and put them in
your backpack until the end of the school day.
