The end of the school year is approaching quickly! Students are reminded that all library books are due this Friday, June 2nd and all textbooks are due next Friday, June 9th. School-issued ipads, with cases, charging cables and bricks, are due on June 12th. Now is a great time to make sure you know where all of these items are and return them on time. Replacement costs are the responsibility of the student.

Students and parents are reminded that TODAY, Wednesday, May 31st there will be a special bell schedule and students will be dismissed from school at 12:30pm and the campus will be closed. Students with Choice Lunch may pick up their lunches at dismissal. Also, there will be no Breakdancing today, due to the special schedule.

8th grade students: A representative from Beyond Differences will be in the 8th grade area TODAY at lunch with applications to join the Beyond Differences Teen Board. Swing by the table to learn how you can help stamp out social isolation and go around to middle schools to talk to other students about creating a more inclusive school community. 
6th and 7th graders: If you are interested in being in the Beyond Differences middle school leadership group and going on the retreat in the fall, you can pick up an application at the Beyond Differences table too.

A big thank you to Ms. Varboncoeur and her fabulous Green Team for their amazing tree planting!  This group came in on the weekend and worked really hard creating a natural habitat around the creek that flows through our campus. It can now grow and re-establish a healthy vibrant ecosystem and it beautified our campus!  What a wonderful gift you have given all of us!

Amazing results of the Championship Track Meet last Friday: MVMS won 10 of the 70 events and had 36 students place in the top five out of the 46 athletes who attended the championship meet. Here are the county champions and their events:

Zach Weinfeld - 1st Place high jump
Caden Carney - 1st Place 600M
Otto Ryersen - 1st Place 1200M (third year in a row!)
Drake Miller - 1st Place high jump (highest jump for any participant at the meet and he's only in 6th grade!)
Coed 4x400M Relay - 1st place (Otto Ryersen, Miles Gensler, Ariana Greenberg, Yuna McCormack)
Brooke Gibson - 1st Place 100M
Adelle Cortis - 1st Place 200M
Yuna McCormack - 1st Place 1200M (BROKE COUNTY RECORD FROM 1994 BY OVER 11 SECONDS!)
Summer Johnson - 1st Place 600M
Ariana Greenberg - 1st Place 1200M

That makes 10 first place, 7 second place, 3 third place, 5 fourth place and 6 fifth place finishes for the 2017 team! All 9 relay teams we sent to the championship meet finished in the top 5 in the county!

The plants need time and space to get established and we thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Beverages in glass bottles are not permitted on campus due to the danger of broken glass and beverages in takeout cups cannot be left for students as they spill in the cabinet and front office areas.

Lunches delivered to the office are for individual students only who have forgotten their lunch and not for parties or other students. Students are not permitted to have their parents deliver group or party lunches (pizza, for example). Beverages in glass bottles are not permitted on campus due to the danger of broken glass and beverages in takeout cups cannot be left for students as they spill in the cabinet and front office areas.

Calligraphy Workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 30th. This is an all-day event for Calligraphy students. Details will be provided in your class.
