March Madness 2018 is HERE! Come to the gym after school on Wednesday, April 4th and join your friends and teachers in the fun! Coach and basketball champion Jennifer Azzi will be there to kick off the event and cheer you on! There will be participant gifts and raffle prizes! Top fundraisers will receive a gift from Boys Against Breast Cancer. Bring you Panther Pride and come join this important event! It promises to be the best March Madness ever!

Student Council has news for you, so listen up!

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Endangered Species Door Decorating contest. There are many creative doors, windows, and pods decorated in recycled materials. Fantastic job!  During Panther Time on Wednesday, April 4th, student council members will be coming around to check out the doors. All classes who participated in the event will get fun sized candy treats. Since 6th graders will be in an assembly we will leave the treats on your desks. Each grade level winning door will receive an additional prize when we get back from break.  Enjoy your Spring Break and we hope you can keep the decorations on until April 23rd to honor Earth day.

Students: It has been reported that there have been several close calls regarding students almost being hit by cars when crossing Sycamore and Camino Alto. The students were either crossing outside the crosswalk with a green light or were looking down at their cellphones when crossing the street, not in the crosswalk. These are both dangerous actions. Please remember that as a pedestrian, skateboarder, or bicyclist, you are expected to abide by traffic laws. For your safety, only cross using the crosswalks and when the ‘Walk’ sign is on. It is always dangerous to walk while looking down at your cellphone and unaware of your surroundings. Stay safe!

TODAY is the Elective Advisory during lunch where you can ask WEB Leaders what elective classes they’ve taken and what they are like. IT HAS BEEN REPORTED TO US THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS REGARDING STUDENTS ALMOST BEING HIT BY CARS WHILE CROSSING SYCAMORE AND CAMINO ALTO.  THE STUDENTS WERE EITHER CROSSING WHILE NOT IN THE CROSSWALK WITH A GREEN LIGHT OR WERE LOOKING DOWN AT THEIR CELLPHONE WHEN CROSSING THE STREET, NOT IN THE CROSSWALK.  THESE ARE BOTH DANGEROUS ACTIONS.  PLEASE REMEMBER THAT AS A PEDESTRIAN, SKATEBOARDER, OR BICYCLIST, YOU ARE EXPECTED TO ABIDE BY TRAFFIC LAWS.  FOR YOUR SAFETY - ONLY CROSS USING THE CROSSWALKS AND WHEN THE 'WALK' SIGN IS ON.  IT IS ALWAYS DANGEROUS TO WALK WHILE ONLY LOOKING DOWN AT YOUR CELLPHONE AND NOT BEING AWARE OF WHERE YOU ARE WALKING.  STAY SAFE.

Parents: Have you seen that great jacket/sweater/water bottle/lunchbox with your son or daughter lately? It may be in our Lost and Found! Encourage your student to take a look (and/or you can look) for anything they might have misplaced before it is donated on Thursday!

Many of you may have heard about ways that schools around the country are sending messages of strength and unity to the students who survived the recent shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. At lunchtime every day from now until March 14th, there will be a few classrooms open for students to go and create banners or signs expressing our support which will be displayed around our own campus. We will take photos and share it with them through social media, as is their stated preference. Anyone interested is invited to come to room 20 (Lewczyk), 27 (Miller) or 32 (Gough) TODAY at lunch and make signs that show support for and unity with these students.
