This weekend, many MVMS student and parent volunteers and MVMS staff came together on campus for a weekend work party where we wrapped gifts, wrote cards, and ultimately delivered hundreds of MVMS Holiday Wishes gifts to five Bay Area community organizations.  It was a fun event, from the hot cider, to the holiday cookies and music, to the sense of community we shared. It took many volunteers to make the 2017 Holiday Wishes Drive a success!  Thank you to the MVMS students who came out to do event set-up, wrap and organize gifts and to MVMS families & students who volunteered to donate gifts, or came to learn from our guest speakers. Check out the Community First Bulletin Board across from the library and see fun event photos! A special thank you to the MVMS staff who rolled up their sleeves and joined in the work party. We really appreciated hearing from Homeward Bound and Sunny Hills Services, who came to the event to share stories with MVMS about their community-focused mission. Terrific job MVMS!  Thank you for putting your Community First!

Counting down to Thanksgiving break, we are highlighting community organizations that our school will help out during the MVMS Holiday Wish Drive. Today it's Huckleberry Youth Programs, a group that works with teens and families in Marin and the Bay Area to overcome adversity. Their programs strengthen families and empower teens aged 11-17 with a wide range of services that promote safety in times of crisis, support physical and emotional well being, encourage social justice and support educational success. Last year, MVMS students and families helped fulfill the holiday wishes of over 350 Huckleberry Youth clients through our Holiday Wish Drive. Following the Thanksgiving break, there will be more details about how you can help a teen in need in our community through this event.

Counting down to Thanksgiving break, we are highlighting community organizations that our school will help out during the MVMS Holiday Wish Drive. Today, it’s the Marin Foster Parents Association. Did you know that there are about 85 Marin kids living in foster homes? They might be sitting next to you in class, playing against you on a team or living across the street from you. You may never know it, because most foster kids don’t talk about their situations. They just want to live a regular life like yours that includes a special present at the holidays. By making a donation at our Holiday Wish drive, you can let them know that someone in the community is thinking of them.
