Ropes Course Information: Attention 8^th graders- all students who have not yet participated in the Ropes Course will do so on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, November 27^th-29^th. THIS IS THE WEEK IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE THANKSGIVING BREAK. Lunch will NOT be provided and students must either bring a lunch from home or they may order a Choice Lunch field trip lunch. Order forms are available from Panther Time teachers or the front office and must be turned in by TODAY. If this presents a hardship to any student, please see your counselor or Mr. Nelson immediately. Check the posters in the 8^th grade pod for the schedule and reminders.

At this time of gratitude and thanks, we are reminded that we are part of a larger community.  Each year MVMS partners with community-based organizations to fulfill the holiday gift wishes of local children, teens and families.  This event, called Holiday Wishes, will be going on at school the next few weeks.  The participating organizations are:  Homeward Bound of Marin, Huckleberry Youth Program, Marin Foster Parent Association and Sunny Hills Services.  This week we highlight some of the important community organizations we are supporting as we count down to our Holiday Wishes drive.  

Last day to purchase Diabolos is TODAY. Buy them in the office or Ms. O'Meara's room 84. $25 each. Get 'em while you can!

Attention MVMS! This is your Student Council with a very important announcement. You have a great opportunity to help students in Zimbabwe achieve their academic dreams, just like what Caitlin did for Martin. Martin’s non profit organization, called Seeds of Africa, is building schools and paying for students to attend them in Zimbabwe. THEY need your help! We all know that education and Caitlin saved Martins life. Just one dollar and you could save someone’s, too. Of course, you don’t have to go to Zimbabwe to help kids there. One dollar donated buys a brick for the school. Give your money to your Panther time teacher. We will be running a fundraiser during the month of November for this organization. At the end of the month, we will see how many bricks each Panther Time has donated. The Panther Time with the most bricks donated will win a prize! How many people can actually say they helped build a school in Africa? Now, you can!

Cabaret News! Even if you missed the big reveal last week, we hop you’ve heard that the 2018 Cabaret will be The Wizard of Oz. If you are interested in participating, information can be found on the Cabaret page on the MVMS website under Student Activities. Please download and print out your applications. Crew applications are due THIS FRIDAY, November 17^th and can be turned in at the Main Office. Bring Cast applications with a photo attached to your audition on EITHER Tuesday, November 28^th or Thursday, November 30^th.

Cabaret news: Woo Hoo!! Now you know- MVMS is off to see the wizard with its own production of The Wizard of Oz! Sign-up sheets for auditions and crew applications will be available starting TODAY, November 3^rd through Friday, November 17^th on the Cabaret Board across from the Library. If you plan to audition, sign up for ONE slot. Look under the Cabaret web page under Student Activities on the MVMS website for full information.

Hey Students: Would you like to join the Interact Club a new community service club? Come to the first meeting next Tuesday, November 7^th at lunch in the multimedia room!

The club is having a kick-off bake sale TODAY to benefit Homeward Bound, the main provider of housing and services for the homeless in Marin County. Buy some great treats at lunch between the 7^th & 8^th grade areas and after school by the pickup lane or the KIDDO! sculpture.

Hey Mathletes! What did “0” say to “8”? Nice BELT! Mathletes will meet TODAY in room 33 at lunch. Come for some calculated fun!

Congratulations to 6^th graders Tindi Musyoki, Maria Figueirinhas, Margot Katzman-Tranah and Isabel Knott for being the recipients of the Tutor Corps Foundation’s Community Service Grant. Their community service project, “Humanity is Kindness” will serve to help provide food, clothing and necessities to those in need.
